About Us

My Chapter One helps children dive into the world of books and fall in love with reading. It maneuvers kids away from digital entertainment and towards wholesome real-time fun, through reading sessions devoted to iconic books and activities that revolve around them. My Chapter One handpicks reading instructors who guide kids towards becoming independent readers, and subsequently, more imaginative,  empathetic, and academically-inclined individuals. All in all, our company’s goal is to create a world of little readers, bright-eyed at the prospect of a new book.

Exercise for the brain

Reading books has been proven to be the best workout for a child’s brain. It keeps a child’s memory on point, flexes their mental capacity, and stimulates brain function. A child who reads books has a far more “complex” brain than one who doesn’t. What’s more – reading books at an early age will make sure your child’s brain stays fit even much later on in life. So if you are tired of seeing your child vegetate in front of the TV, have them switch to books. Reading could quite possibly be the only activity that is relaxing and stimulating at the same time!

Concentration

Children of this day and age are fast to lose focus. A game interests them one moment, a text from a friend the next. More often than not, this reflects in the way they tackle academics and results in poor grades. Reading is an oasis in this fast-paced world; an interesting plot and relatable characters can increase a child’s attention span and motivate them to commit to an activity for at least a few minutes. Eventually, this becomes habitual and the child will be effortlessly able to concentrate on the task at hand for hours on end.

My Chapter One is particular about choosing books that are capable of capturing and sustaining the attention of children, in order to facilitate this type of maximum concentration.

CONCENTRATION (1)
AWARENESS (1)

Awareness

Children who read travel the world through books. They encounter beautiful cultures, fascinating characters, and teachable moments. Books are essentially mentors to children – teaching them the difference between right and wrong, and helping them become intelligent and aware little individuals with a deep understanding of the life around them. With books, possibilities are endless, universes are infinite, and experiences unforgettable. My Chapter One is mindful of selecting only those books which help children access these opportunities.

Thirst for knowledge

Books show children that there is always something to discover. They often provide material that children don’t otherwise come across in television, games, or even in their surrounding environment. By giving children a taste of a vast bank of information, My Chapter One draws children in with informative books and teaches them to become curious, excited, and optimistic about all that the world has to offer. Our students often end up with the urge to choose intellectually rewarding sources of knowledge throughout their lives.

Language (1)

Language

Language is an essential tool in our daily lives. Be it to communicate with our near and dear ones, shine in oral exams, or impress in an interview, we can accomplish so much more when we have a good grasp over language. Historically, superior language has contributed to the success of the most influential people in the world – Martin Luther King, Jr., Winston Churchill, Sheryl Sandberg, B.R. Ambedkar, Barack Obama – all of whom became trailblazers and role models because of their stellar communication skills. My Chapter One’s top priority is to teach our students enough English vocabulary to express themselves fully and freely with their peers as well as with adults.

Imagination

Reading helps us imagine the world as a much more enchanting place than the one we live in. It feeds into a child’s creative and imaginative powers, and expands the scope of their minds. This in turn helps with critical thinking and problem-solving, leading to them become solution-oriented individuals. As Pablo Picasso said, “Everything we can imagine is real.” My Chapter One focuses on providing children with opportunities to dream, imagine, and create through innovative books and activities.

Empathy

My Chapter’s One portfolio of books consists of material that teaches children to be kind, compassionate, and empathetic human beings. The students constantly come across scenarios which showcase the beautiful rewards of being good towards others. They regularly reinforce positive behaviour, such as being gentle, thoughtful, and helpful, to the people and animals around us. Our students come away with a sense of how their words and actions affect others, leading to a more self-aware and sensitive way of life.

Academics

A common myth is that reading helps improve only English grades in school. But studies have shown that the more a child reads, the more they improve across all subject areas in school. A child who reads 20 minutes a day scores 90 percent higher than their peers by sixth grade; on the other hand, a child who reads 10 minutes a day scores 50 percent higher and a child who reads only one minute a day scores only 10 percent higher than their peers. If you’re particular about your child’s grades, My Chapter One’s books and worksheets can work some magic; your child will have fun and become more academically-inclined at the same time!

FUN (1)

Fun

No child will pursue an activity if it’s not fun. We diligently tailor our material such that your child will have as much fun during our sessions as they do on the playground. We consistently work towards showing children that books can be a huge source of entertainment. Our activities are so immersive that children become reluctant to put their books down. What’s more, they meet peers from different backgrounds with diverse perspectives, which helps them develop their social skills and brings them out of their shells.
